Knox County – Wednesday afternoon, May 26, Indiana State Police and Knox County Child Protective Services responded to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes to investigate a child abuse case involving a two-week-old baby girl. The infant was admitted and is currently being treated for a fractured femur. During the investigation, investigating officers were able to determine that the child had been intentionally battered by Dereck Wininger, 19, of Vincennes. The investigation also revealed that the mother, Danielle Hill, 18, of Vincennes, waited nearly five hours before taking her daughter to the hospital and then allegedly gave false information during the investigation.
